The Teacup Yorkie is happiest sitting on its owner’s lap all day and is an extremely affectionate breed. It has been said that a Yorkshire Terrier requires more human companionship and attention than any other breed. They have a dose of attitude combined with a bright and playful nature. They are also intelligent and lively making them quick to learn but occasionally willful which can make training a challenge. Because of their temperament, training must consist of a lot of praise combined with consistency and firmness.
The Yorkie can be territorial and needs its ‘space’ respected. For this reason, it is best to not have a Yorkie in a house with young children although older children are okay if they are taught to treat the dog well. Because of their small size, they require minimal exercise. They love short walks and are well-suited for apartments and other small living spaces.
If you have the time to devote to them, Teacup Yorkies make sweet and loyal companions.
