It’s that time of year. We pull out the boxes and bring out all those wonderful Christmas things – music, movies, books and decorations. Some are treasured keepsakes from days gone by, some are related to new traditions we just started last year. In our home, one of our best-loved traditions is watching classic Christmas movies together, and since we are animal lovers, our favorites all star four-legged critters. The first movie we usually reach for highlights the spunky personality of Charlie Brown’s dog, Snoopy.
A Charlie Brown Christmas debuted on CBS in 1965, and has been aired during the Christmas season every year since: on CBS through 2000, and on ABC since 2001. The special is still shown during the weeks leading up to Christmas, and of course, this favorite is available on DVD. The special has been honored with both an Emmy and Peabody Award, and if you count it up, it’s been aired for nearly fifty years! It’s such a favorite in our home that our fur-kid even watches with us. Well, at least he’s in the same room. And, he’s usually sleeping. But that’s okay – at least we’re all together. And when it comes right down to it, that’s what it’s all about.
