Each morning, I jump onto an upstairs windowsill so that I may survey my vast kingdom. I see the birds in their nest, and they see me. By a look, I grant them permission to be there. I send the squirrels a warning to stay out of the birdfeeder and be on their best behavior, or , as they know, they will have to contend with me. I check on the little human children playing in the yard, and make sure they are safe. I check the direction of the wind, and sniff the air. And then, if a bug dares to fly near me, I catch it, eat it, and delicately clean my face and paws. I am Queen of all I see, and all is right with my world.
